I decided to switch website hosts, which, really, is not very surprising. From the beginning, I was conflicted over several options. The main candidates were Shutterfly, our previous host, and Weebly, our new host. Why choose one over the other? Well, when I first was researching free hosting options, Weebly had a limited number of pages and images for the free version. Shutterfly, also free, had unlimited uploading, which was great for photography, but was, let's face it, pretty ugly. Nonetheless, I chose Shutterfly all those months ago (more like two-ish) because I didn't want to worry running out of uploading space.
I gave up (tragic, I know) on finding out how to implement an internal search engine when I realized, today, that I can have unlimited pictures and albums on Shutterfly. Joy of joys! So what I've decided to do is simply have like twice as many albums. So each photograph will be put into at least two categories, based on location, which is more for viewing accessibility and subject, which is the professional route.
In other news, I will be getting a DSL camera as a belated birthday present from my parents! (On my actually birthday, I literally got a nice dinner and that was it. But, speaking materialistically, I'm not a very needy child; so that suited me just fine.) Is it DSL or DSR or DRL? ... Yes, I know; I'm about as professional as they come. This weekend I've been looking for a free hosting website where you could upload an unlimited amount content. And, as you can see, I've found one: Shutterfly! To start off, I've uploaded several albums, which you can see by clicking the appropriate button. (And if you can't tell, then I wonder how you even found your way onto this website, but that's beside the point.)
Well, today was the first day of school. You may be thinking it foolish of me to start a site and blog on such a day as this. And I wouldn't blame you; I think so, too. But, in my defense, I have a lot of zeal and enthusiasm for this now, so I figure I should put this site together (or at least start to) while it is still an idea that interests me and while I have time. Also before I completely forget about it.
Sometime this weekend, I hope to put up some of pictures that I've already taken. Like I have a lot of interesting shots from my family's camping trip to the Adirondacks in New York from last year's April break. Maybe some from China, Italy, or India, too, if I can find them. |
